ABOUT THE RURAL EVENTS

One of the best ways to discover rural Transylvania and its people is to combine a bike ride with the participation in one of the many events that take place in villages.

From spring to autumn, every weekend has at least one event to offer. Whether we are talking about centuries old village traditions, organic food markets or events that promote the gastronomical diversity of the regions or even music festivals held in old barns, you can take part in a variety of happenings.

You can look over the list of suggested events by browsing our calendar. Some of them may imply a participation fee or may need prior reservation. Also, in order to make the most of our day we recommend that you choose an event which takes place in the proximity of the town or area where your accommodation is booked.

Send us an email if you want to find out more or if you are interested in one of the recommended events.

RIDE OF THE DAY

The schedule and the route for these tours depend a lot on the location of the event. Normally, we would spend around 3-4 hours at that location. Even if more of the events are gastronomical, they include some extra activities such as short guided walks in the village or presentations of some local producers.

During the second half of the day, we'll ride around 25km (15 miles) in the same area. All these details will be discussed together when we plan the trip.

MORE INFORMATION

LUNCH & COFFEE BREAKS

On almost all occasions we won’t have to worry about lunch as the events we attend are gastronomical ones. For any other cases we'll provide fresh and tasty sandwiches together with fruit, dry nuts and cereal bars. We know that many of you love coffee. With tours being private, we can take an espresso break whenever we feel like it. Although the coffee shops on route are not that fancy they will offer an authentic village experience.

WEATHER

We recommend you check the forecast in the days before the trip and prepare proper clothes. Even if there are small chances of rain, rather than counting on luck, you should pack a light weight rain jacket. For the sunny days don’t forget to carry some sunscreen with you. Weather can change rapidly, especially during spring and early summer, so it’s better to be prepared. For exceptionally bad weather we can cancel a tour, if this is discussed with a few days in advance.

PICK UP & TRANSFER

In the morning, on the day of the trip, we will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the starting point of the tour. The car ride takes between 45 minutes to one hour. Then in the evening, after finishing the ride, we will drive back to the city and we will drop you off at the same place or at any other location in town. Should you have a rented car and should you prefer to drive to starting point and meet us there, we are happy with this option as well.
